  • Boarding

When you are planning a vacation, what do you do with your beloved pets? Pet boarding has become a popular option for pet parents who do not want to leave their pets alone for most of the day whilst away.

Taking your pet to a boarding kennel can be stressful for both you and your pet. However, there are clear advantages to boarding your pet instead of asking someone to come over to your house to check on them.

    • The first advantage is that your pet will enjoy consistent socialization with other pets, as well as people. These interactions will keep your pet from feeling lonely and anxious. At Westlands Veterinary Clinic, we offer playtime services, which will further reduce boredom and loneliness. In addition to being good for the mental health of your pet, this exercise can be beneficial to their physical health as well. Playtime is often best for dogs, but cats can benefit from playtime as well.
    • The second major advantage is that we provide a safe environment for your pets while you are away. For instance, if you have a cat or dog, they may be exposed to traffic or neighbors’ vehicles while they are on their own at home. Your dog or cat could also encounter aggressive animals or other dangers while they are outside without supervision. While in a kennel, they will be protected from these types of threats by staff who monitor the facility around the clock.
    • The third advantage is that we offer grooming services at an additional cost to ensure that your pet looks its best when you return home.

What age is suitable for my pet to be boarded?

In general, your puppy or kitten should be able to go to a kennel by the age of 4 months, just after receiving their complete vaccinations. We do ask that when bringing your pet in for boarding, please bring in their vaccination card.

Should your puppy or kitten not be old enough to have the above vaccines, they are not old enough to be boarded. If you do have an emergency and need to board your young kitten or puppy, then contact us as we will then make special arrangements for their boarding.

We provide our customers with pet boarding facilities to best fit their needs. Pets stay overnight in spacious runs, constantly supervised by our attentive staff. Our pet technicians are friendly and caring and really love animals so your pet will be in loving hands. Our kennels are airy and cleaned daily. Every pet gets time out of its run to socialize with other well-mannered guests or enjoy playtime in the yard. They will get nutritious meals and baths when needed.

From weekend getaways to extended vacations, we ensure that your pet is well cared for, so you can focus on your trip without any stress. We will update you with pictures and also keep in mind that we have an in-house vet to make sure your pet is in the best of health.

  • Day Care

Our pet daycare is a fun and social experience for all animals. Our trained staff, clean and spacious indoor/outdoor playgrounds, and a large range of pet-friendly toys.

Rather than spend the day cooped up at home, your pet can enjoy the benefits that come with daycare, such as:

    • Social Interactions with other animals.
    • Reduction of separation anxiety.
    • Supervised playtime.
    • Plenty of Exercise.
    • A boost in confidence for your pet.
    • An established daily routine

Requirements to enroll your pet for daycare:

As with boarding, your pet, especially dogs and cats, must be at least four months of age and have all their vaccinations (see above under “boarding”) At Westlands Veterinary Clinic, we are dedicated to providing a happy, safe and comfortable environment for your pet. Our handlers are well trained, and all animals enjoy playtime in a secure space. We are proud to have many satisfied and returning clients.
